Loire Valley

Sancerre, a medieval town on the Loire River's left bank, is famous for its historic architecture and vineyards. Once known for Pinot Noir, it was replanted with Sauvignon Blanc after phylloxera in the late 19th century. Sancerre now produces white, red, and rosé wines and is also renowned for its Crottin de Chavignol goat cheese.

Savennières, located on the Loire's north bank in the Anjou-Saumur region, is known for Chenin Blanc wines. The area, defined as an AOC in 1952, includes three communes: Savennières, Bouchemaine, and La Possonnière. The sun-drenched slopes here produce wines with great character and historical significance.
